Board of Advisors
Composed of 16 members, The Terraces of Los Gatos Board of Advisors plays a role in the selection and evaluation of the executive director. It advises the executive director on operational and resident life issues, works with the executive director to develop an annual budget, and serves as ambassadors in the larger community.
Board members bring a variety of talents and perspectives to The Terraces. The current board (in alphabetical order) includes:

Donald Allari, MD... pediatrician
Don is a 4th generation San Franciscan. He was a University of California honor graduate, a medical student at UCSF and is active in UC and UCSF alumni affairs. His deceased wife was a well-known Public Health Nurse in this area. Their three children attended Los Gatos schools. His internship was at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, with residency there and at Stanford Children’s Hospital. His local private practice was from 1965 to 1972. He was very active in the Dept. of Pediatrics at Good Samaritan Hospital. He is now very active in Rotary – particularly their international projects in developing countries by operating mainly on needy children there.

Lamar was born in California but moved very shortly after birth to the Oregon coast. He was graduated from Portland State with degrees in history and education and a M.Div. degree from Western Seminary. He joined the staff of Calvary Church in 1980. He spends many hours at The Terraces ministering to those who need him. He is the current board chairperson and a member of the Community Relations, Resident Life, and Board Development Committees of the Board of Advisors, and interim co-chairperson of the new Residents Foundation Committee.

Pam was born in Boston, grew up an “East Coaster” and lived in Lenox, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra called “Tanglewood.” She graduated from the University of Connecticut, married her husband, Ted, and worked for N.Y. Bell Telephone. She later moved to Northern California, had two children and moved with her family to Taipei, Taiwan. After three years, while Ted was General Manger of the ITT plant, they returned to the U.S., where Pam was hired by ABHOW as Community Relations Manager. She is now Director of Sales, Marketing and Community Relations. She was elected to the Board of Advisors in 2002 and serves as Secretary to the Board.

Pam and her husband, Rolf, have both been members of The Terraces Board of Advisors. Rolf has served on the Board of ABHOW. Pam serves on the Health Services, Community Relations and Resident Life Committees of the Terraces Board of Advisors. She has lived in Los Gatos since 1945 and has many friends who live at The Terraces. Pam is active in the Kappa Kappa Gamma alumni association and is on the Caring Ministries Committee of the Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos.

Clayton has lived in Los Gatos since birth, only being away for time spent in military service. He attended San Jose State University and is now a member of the San Jose Rotary Club and Saratoga Men’s Club. He is a retired insurance broker. His parents were involved in the early stages of planning for The Terraces. They passed away before it became a reality. He is now the Chair of the Nominating/Board Development Committee and serves on the Budget & Finance and Strategic Planning & Accreditation Committees.

Rev. Burnham was born in Utica, New York, and grew up there through high school. He attended college in Clinton, New York and later attended the University of South Carolina where he received a Master of International Business in 1987. He and his wife, Pat, moved to California. He then enrolled at Union Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, and was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1993. After serving churches in Florida and Alabama, he came to the Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos in 1999, where he is now the pastor. He and Pat have two children, ages 16 and 12, and are guardians of a 18-year-old who has lived with them for five years.

Carl is a fifth generation Los Gatos resident. His father, Bill Cilker, was involved in The Terraces at its inception and on our original board. Carl is married to Kathy and they have three children. He has a BS in Agricultural Business Manage-ment from Cal Poly. He is VP of Cilker Orchards, managing agricultural and commercial land, including Cornerstone shopping center across the street. He is on the Board of Directors of Diamond Walnut Growers and Samaritan Medical Center. He has been active in the Rotary Club of San Jose, Second Harvest Food Bank, San Jose City/Evergreen Community College Foundation and the First Congregational Church of San Jose.

Terry serves on the Budget & Finance Committee and the Executive Committee of The Terraces Advisory Board. He also serves on the Board of Directors of ABHOW and Cornerstone. He has lived in the Los Gatos area for 20-plus years. He has an industrial engineering degree from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Stanford. He became interested in The Terraces through his mother-in-law, Betty Stanley, who is a resident of The Terraces. His mother, Margot, was also a resident here.

Bobbye is a professor of Gerontological nursing, who taught at San Jose State University for 25 years before retiring three years ago. She continues to teach part time. Bobbye directed the school of nursing and the graduate program in nursing. She established in Los Gatos the first of nine nurse-managed community health centers which provide care for adults, pre-school children and the severely mentally ill. She has served on a number of association and community boards and is presently vice chair for the joint boards of Regional Health Center of San Jose and San Jose Medical Center.

Tom O'Donnell has lived in Los Gatos since 1971. He and his wife, Anne, raised four children. Anne died in 2001 and Tom married Nickie Kovac in 2003. Tom was on the Los Gatos elementary public school board for 22 years. Recently, the School District named its new administration building "The Thomas P O’Donnell District Administration Building". Tom is now on the Town of Los Gatos Planning Commission and the Board of the nonprofit Presentation Center. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of his alma mater, St. Mary's College of California. Tom practices law with Ferrari Ottoboni, LLP, in San Jose. He received his law degree from the University of California's Boalt Hall, Berkeley, in 1963.

Al has lived in Los Gatos since 1959. He has degrees in engineering from the University of California and Santa Clara University. He and his wife, Bobbie, have three adult children. Al worked 32 years for IBM and 6 years for Siemens, in product program technical management. Al served on the Town of Los Gatos Planning Commission for 13 years, 4 as Chariman. He is a Past Exalted Ruler of LG Elks Lodge #1857. Al is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Museums of Los Gatos, as past president. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Napili Kai Beach Resort in Maui. Al is very active in the College of Engineering in Berkeley. He has served two years on The Terraces of Los Gatos Board of Advisors.
